A few weeks ago, Nancy and I were having lunch after church one Sunday. When the waiter came to take our order, we asked if there was anything we could pray with him about. Surprisingly, the water pulled over a chair from a nearby table and said, I’m not a perfect person by any means, but I would really appreciate you praying for me. In return, he even prayed for us!

I couldn’t believe that such a simple question could lead to such a caring conversation of just how much God cares. It is interesting that Jesus tells us in Matthew 5:15-16, “Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

Letting your light shine is as easy as asking what you can pray with someone about, taking some groceries to a sick neighbor, or some other selfless action that longs to live out the Good News of Jesus Christ. Letting your light shine just means you are trying to be the hands and feet of Jesus extended to others…whatever that looks like in your situation. When your heart is right, people will notice…and God will get the glory. So let Jesus light your candle and go shine his light!

For Him,
Marshall
