I recently pulled into the local gas station to fill up with fuel. The process was fairly routine: inserting my method of payment and selecting the octane level of fuel before putting the nozzle into my gas tank and squeezing the lever. But, while checking my oil and waiting for the gas to finish dispensing, I couldn’t help but overhear my neighbors in the next lane seemingly encouraging one another in God’s provision.

The Holy Spirit seemed to nudge me to walk over and ask if there was anything I could agree with them in prayer about—which is a bit out of my comfort zone. However, when I did, I discovered one of the ladies had recently suffered a heart attack earlier that week and was anxious about the future. The other lady happened to be one of her friends and was reminding her of God’s provision in all things. They graciously let me pray with them for God’s divine healing and provision.

I was so encouraged afterwards and felt a little divine confirmation that God longs to use everyday followers of Christ to remind others that He is indeed “able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think” (Ephesians 3:20 KJV) for His glory. So be on the lookout! God may just want you to offer an encouraging word or prayer for someone in need near you. I’m so thankful that being the hands and feet of Jesus Christ extended can bring with it some unexpected blessings—I hope you’re ready for some!

God’s very best to you,
Marshall
